The long wait is over for Windows Phone users who have been craving to use  Instagram on their Nokia handsets as the Finnish maker announced the arrival of the popular photo sharing app "in due time."

All selfies can take a breath of relief as the most popular photo sharing app is finally making its way to the Windows Phone platform. It has long been rumored that Instagram will be made available on Nokia devices but there has been no confirmation, until now. The Finnish makers executive vice president Chris Weber has confirmed that Facebook-owned online photo-sharing app will be released on Windows Phone devices "in due time," reports a tech news site, IntoMobile.

Instagram was first launched on iOS platform before it was shared with Android users in April last year. It sparked a worldwide controversy and many users even took  to Twitter to express their repulsion, but with time everything faded. The app quickly gained huge popularity after being available on the two most dominating platforms in the world.

Now, the official Instagram app will be launched on yet another famous mobile platform, Windows Phone. Nokia users have long craved for Instagram to be made available to them, but in the mean time, they filled the void with third party apps such as 6tagram, Fhotoroom, Instance and others.

Weber did not confirm the release date for Instagram on Windows app store. So it may be a little longer before Windows Phone users start tagging their new photos.

In addition to the popular photo sharing app, Nokia also plans to include Google maps, Vine, Pinterest, and Flipboard. The addition of new apps may act as a game-changer for Nokia, giving opportunities for other popular app makers to head in the same direction.

For the past several years, I chased after an Android future that never really materialized. I went through a number of Android convertible tablets (like the Transformer TF101 and TF300), and I tried Webtop on my Motorola phones as a full PC in a Lapdock. Android came very close, but I kept feeling like the devices were coming up just a bit short. When Microsofts Surface RT came out, I watched closely but was turned off by the steep price. A year later, when prices finally started to come down, I bought one from Craigslist.
Android devices never gave me the confidence to travel without a laptop. They were inherently limited by the fact that they had evolved from a mobile OS that wasn’t designed to do heavy word processing or render web-based apps and sites in full desktop mode.
Apples CEO, Tim Cook, famously said, “You can converge a toaster and a refrigerator, but those things are probably not gonna be pleasing to the user.” However, Surface RT was a different story. In fact, Ive increasingly been using Surface RT more than any of my Android devices. Here are five reasons why.

Windows 8 wasn’t a mature mobile OS, but the interface leverages mobile touch devices in a form that follows function. iOS and Android both took a classic icon-based desktop design, shrunk it down to smartphones, and then expanded it to run on larger tablets. Microsoft reimagined the OS to work around the device. Gestures take some practice to master, but they make navigation more intuitive. Windows 8 on a touch device gets out of your way. The actions become natural to interact with apps, to navigate through the OS, and to organize and customize the platform.
I recently talked to someone who said that when they go back to their non-touch Windows desktop, they find themselves reaching out to perform touch actions. I found the same thing when returning to Android tabs after using Surface RT. When you miss features that are absent, something is done right.

2. Surface RT has a native interface for productivity

The Classic desktop is powerful. You can’t run traditional x86 code, but that may not be such a disadvantage. With Office and a full desktop version of IE, plus all of the traditional apps, accessories, logs, control panels, and services as Windows, Surface RT becomes an ideal traveling companion for productivity. The ability to drop into a native interface that is keyboard- and mouse-oriented gives Surface RT a huge advantage over Android and iOS for basic, traditional productivity tasks. You don’t have to find touch-oriented workaround solutions to cut and paste, drag and drop, manipulate the file system, input text, mouseover, and point, because its all natively supported.

3. The Modern experience is improved in Windows 8.1

Windows 8.1 has improved the Modern experience tremendously. Apple and Microsoft both played with gadgets and widgets that are designed to bring a mobile-like experience to the desktop. The reason smartphones and tablets are popular with business users is because of the excellent digital assistant utility of those devices. Notifications and alerts (for calendars and tasks), instant access to contacts, and the ability to call up maps and navigation utilities -- these and other features are a traditional strength of tablets and smartphones and a liability for PCs. Business users would love to have those features consolidated in one device, but to gain one, the sacrifices on the other have remained too great. Surface RT goes a long way to address that. With Windows 8, I complained that the Classic desktop was used as a crutch too often. However, Windows 8.1 starts to bring Modern into the foreground of the experience, with more time spent in full-featured mobile apps.

4. Refresh and restore with greater ease

Surface RT refresh and restore are like a reset on Android or iOS. Windows on Intel is still vulnerable to all classic Windows issues, meaning that you may find yourself far away from home with a crippled OS and no reinstall media, no keys, and unable to recover. If something goes wrong, recovering the exact state may be difficult or impossible on a traditional PC, but its far easier on ARM-based devices, including Surface RT. On the other hand, with a full desktop browser, things that have to wait until youre back at a regular PC on other ARM devices can be done immediately in the Surface RT Classic desktop. Google Drive, Dropbox, social media sites, blogs, and many online apps work on Surface RT just like a regular Windows PC rather than as a crippled mobile site or by the unreliable method of rendering a“mouse and pointer”-oriented site in desktop mode on a mobile browser.

5. The general freedom of an NT OS is baked into Surface RT

Surface RT offers the basic open freedoms of Windows. While you can’t install Classic apps, use alternate markets, or sideload apps, much of the general freedom of an NT OS is baked into Surface RT. You can browse networks and copy and manipulate files as much as youd like. You can launch files or apps multiple ways and directed to multiple destinations. Peripheral support on Surface RT is also unmatched by Android or iOS, including keyboards, mice, joysticks, external drives, and (most significantly for me) printers. I’ve tried countless cloud printing solutions on iOS and Android, and they’ve all been unreliable and difficult to configure. Surface RT doesn’t support every Windows printer, but when it works, its just like setting up one in Windows -- comfortable, familiar, and reliable. If you can’t print, you’ll probably find that your hotel’s business center or a Kinkos will take your SD card, load your document onto their PC, and print it out for you with very little hassle. Furthermore, the built-in USB will take a thumb drive or any size external hard drive. I’ve even hooked up an external USB DVD drive.
It isn’t that Android can’t do some of these things, its that it can’t deliver all of these things as consistently or as well. Android still has a tremendous advantage as a leisure content consumption platform, which is why its so popular on the Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire. If thats what youre looking for in a mobile device, Surface RT may disappoint you. But if you want a hybrid device that places an emphasis on productivity in a corporate environment, neither iOS or Android come close to the solution that Surface RT offers.

Google released a new magazine and news-reading app for Android today designed to bring all your daily reads together into one piece of software. The new app, called Newsstand, features both magazines and newspapers, and you can add feeds from blogs and other websites as well. Google says as you use the app, it will learn what kinds of sources and stories you prefer and begin presenting a tailored experience.

The app is launching with full length (rather than summary or preview) content from newspapers likeThe New York Times, Wall Street Journal and The Financial Times, and magazines such as Vanity Fairand WIRED. Although stories from various publications will be presented side by side with each other, you can also import your existing magazine and newspaper subscriptions.

It’s not Google’s first effort at something like this, but it brings together many of the features of Play Magazines and Currents, Google’s previous reading apps, into a single interface. (The former was essentially a magazine store and reading experience, while the latter was a Flipboard-style app that also gave a curated news experience from a variety of sources.) But unlike Currents, Newsstand has quite a few tools designed to let publishers better control their content. It supports paywalls, for example. Read a story from The New York Times, and it will count as one of your 15 free stories for the month, but also give you the opportunity to subscribe from within the app. Meanwhile, magazines show up when a new issue comes out, not on a story-by-story basis, and clicking on the cover image that comes up in the Newsstand feed will take you to a fully designed version of the magazine’s app (if it has one) that runs inside Newsstand.

It also has features designed to help you drill down onto stories you care about. Google calls these topic tags. A story on the senate’s hearing on Bitcoin, for example, might have a Bitcoin tag in the lower right corner. Click on it, and you’ll get more Bitcoin-related stories. The more you dive into these, the more you will see over time. Google says it’s also pulling in signals from outside of Newsstand, such as search queries and presumably what you’re looking at if you’re logged into the Chrome browser. Although it makes some use of location, the company says that’s not a main focus for news delivery yet.

• Click the Phone checkbox, and choose the file with modem in its name (ignore if there is no such file)
• Click the CSC checkbox, and select the file with csc in its name (ignore if such file is missing)
• Choose the PIT checkbox, and choose the .pit file. Use only the file obtained during extracting in step 1 above, otherwise ignore it.

Step 8: In Odin, enable Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time checkboxes. Also, ensure the Re-Partition checkbox is chosen only if a .pit file was chosen in the previous step.
Step 9: Verify everything suggested in Step 7 and Step 8 is done correctly. Then hit the START button to begin the installation process.
Step 10: Once the installation process is completed, your phone will restart and soon you will see a PASS message with green background in the left-most box at the very top of the Odin. You can now unplug the USB cable to disconnect your device from computer.

Samsung Galaxy Fame S6810 should be now updated with official Android 4.1.2 XXAME2 Jelly Bean. Head over to Settings >> About Phone to verify the software version running on the device.

6. The Android 4.2.2 XXUBMGA Jelly Bean firmware is compatible only with Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos I9082. Applying this to any incorrect variant might brick the device. Verify the model number of the Galaxy Grand Duos by navigating to Settings >> About Phone.

Steps to Update Galaxy Grand Duos I9082 with Android 4.2.2 XXUBMGA Jelly Bean Firmware
Step 1: Extract Firmware zip file using winrar/7zip/winzip or any other extracting tool, you will get a .tar.md5 file and some other files.
Step 2: Extract Odin zip file and you will get Odin3 v3.07.exe along with few other files.
Step 3: Power off your phone.
Step 4: Boot the device into Download Mode by pressing and holding Volume Down, Home and Power buttons together until a construction Android robot icon with a warning triangle appears on screen. Now press the Volume Up button to enter Download Mode.
Step 5: Run Odin on the computer as an Administrator.
Step 6: Connect the Galaxy Grand Duos to the computer using USB cable while it is in the Download Mode. Wait until Odin detects the device. When the device is connected successfully, the ID: COM box will turn blue with the COM port number. Additionally, the successful connected will be indicated by a message saying Added.

Note: If the Added message does not appear, then try re-install USB drivers or changing the port on the computer.

Step 7: Choose the following files in Odin from extracted I9082XXUBMGA firmware folder by using respective checkboxes:

• Select the PDA checkbox, and choose the file named .tar or .md5.
• Click the Phone checkbox, and choose the file with modem in its name (ignore if there is no such file)
• Click the CSC checkbox, and select the file with csc in its name (ignore if such file is missing)
• Choose the PIT checkbox, and choose the .pit file. Use only the file obtained during extracting in step 1 above, otherwise ignore it.

Step 8: In Odin, enable Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time checkboxes. Also, ensure the Re-Partition checkbox is chosen only if a .pit file was chosen in the previous step.
Step 9: Verify everything suggested in Step 7 and Step 8 is done correctly. Then hit the Start button to begin the installation process.
Step 10: Once the installation process is completed, your phone will restart and soon you will see a PASS message with green background in the left-most box at the very top of the Odin. You can now unplug the USB cable to disconnect your device from computer.

Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos I9082 should be now updated with official Android 4.2.2 XXUBMGA Jelly Bean. Head over to Settings >> About Phone to verify the software version running on the device.

Note: If Galaxy Grand Duos I9082 stuck at booting animation after Step 10 then go to recovery mode (press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power buttons together) and perform Wipe data/Factory Reset and Wipe Cache Partition task before selecting reboot system now function. In recovery mode use Volume keys to navigate between options and Power key to select the option. Please note, performing wiping task will erase your device internal memory data and not external SD card data.
